We are thrilled to share some wonderful progress at St Mary's Church, Rickinghall.
For the first time since the church was built, we now have a mains water supply installed on the church grounds. This is a significant milestone for our beautiful historic building and opens up many new possibilities for how we can use and care for St Mary's in the years ahead.
This new water connection is the essential first step towards a bigger vision: building a sensitive extension on the side of the church. The proposed extension will include accessible toilets and allow a small kitchen area. These practical facilities will allow us to welcome people more comfortably and safely, whether for regular services, special events, or community gatherings.
With these improvements, St Mary's will be better equipped for the future — ready to host more activities such as:
Our aim is simple: to make St Mary's an even more welcoming hub at the heart of Rickinghall and the wider benefice, where everyone feels able to come, stay a while, and feel at home.
We are now actively raising funds for the extension and associated works. This is a significant project for our small but dedicated congregation, and we will need the support of the whole community — and beyond — to make it happen.
If you would like to help, there are several ways to get involved:
Every contribution, large or small, will make a real difference. If you'd like more information about the plans, costs, or how you can support the project, please contact Revd Helen Grover or use the contact form on this website.
Thank you for your ongoing love and support for St Mary's. Together, we can ensure this historic church continues to serve the community faithfully for many generations to come.
